The chemical
properties of all the isotopes of an element are similar because they depend
upon number of electrons around the nucleus. The number of electrons around the
nucleus are same as number of protons inside the nucleus. That is why isotopes
can not be separated by chemical methods.
The physical
methods are used to separate isotopes. The device used to separate isotopes is
called mass spectrograph.
